The Mechanical Engineering department in the Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced **Senior Mechanical Engineer** to support Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems **located in Tucson, AZ** .

This is an on-site role.

Tasking may range throughout the product life cycle, depending on current local demands. This may include concept development and proposal support, detailed mechanical design, transition-to-production, or sustainment work. This position requires versatility to navigate various program phases, and strong communication skills to collaborate across Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to resolve issues.

Responsibilities may include ownership of complex hardware or small subsystem, working closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met.

The candidate will ensure Technical Data Packages are maintained and updated as necessary. Decisions must be data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards. Expect to have basic skillset to grow into leading small project/team as opportunities arise.

**What You Will Do**

+ Develop and oversee the mechanical execution of a new Independent Flight Termination System (IFTS)

+ Communicate with engineering team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance with requirements.

+ Work under limited supervision and act as the mechanical team lead, maintaining a program drawing tracker, helping to mentor less experienced engineers in design practices, and drawing release processes.

+ Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Safety, SCM, OPS, QA, etc.) to align strategies and ensure successful project execution.

+ Support suppliers with product integration

+ Perform and review tolerance analysis to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended by design for the use-application.

+ Improve new and existing designs using Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Producibility principles.

+ Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment.

**Qualifications You Must Have**

+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience

+ Experience in CREO (or equivalent CAD tool)

+ Experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5

+ Experience with mechanical components or subsystems

+ The ability to obtain and maintain an U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

**Qualifications We Prefer**

+ Familiarity with RCC319 requirements.

+ Willingness to support tasks relative to both design development and production support.

+ Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principles, and interconnects.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written

+ Ability to work in teams or independently and demonstrates initiative

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
