We are looking for an Electro-mechanical Components Engineer to support subcontract technical management for our Deployables operating unit. The Electro-mechanical Components Engineer will work with Global Supply Chain and the subcontractors to support the design and fabrication of solar arrays and deployable mechanical systems on a large variety of commercial and military programs. This position may be located in either the **Goleta or Oxnard, CA** site, with the expectation of travel to subcontractors.
**Roles and Responsibilities:**
+ Monitor and coordinate technical design and development of hardware at subcontractors. Lead resolution for issues impacting quality and yield
+ Support Qualification Test Readiness Review at Supplier as well as approve test results for compliance with technical requirements
+ Support Production Readiness Reviews to ensure subcontractor has all information, planning, equipment ready to execute successfully
+ Lead First Article Inspections of hardware coordinating with stakeholders in Global Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing. Drive closure on action items and resolve any discrepancies
+ Support product delivery by approving acceptance test and inspection data ensuring compliance with contract technical requirements
+ Perform cell layout design, power calculations, wire routing, and development of electrical interface control drawings for solar array designs
+ Derive requirements for release devices, motors, actuators, telemeters, and electrical interconnect hardware
+ Provide electro-mechanical component technical guidance and direction to engineering team in the design, test, production, and maintenance phases of a project
+ Recommend and support the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of components
+ Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing
+ Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into component systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
+ Use independent, advanced knowledge and ideas to guide the development and implementation of technical solutions to highly complex problems
+ Participate in anomaly resolution by supporting Failure Review Boards (FRB) and providing non-conformance and failure analysis assessments
+ Review and approve analysis and engineering drawings
+ Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers
+ Collaborate with other disciplines including design, manufacturing, quality, and procurement
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 9 years’ relevant experience; OR 7 years’ relevant experience with a Masters' degree in a STEM discipline; OR 4 years’ relevant experience with a PhD
+ Experience in providing technical guidance and direction to support electro-mechanical engineering activities in the design, test, production, and maintenance phases of a project
+ Ability to travel to subcontractors, and between the Oxnard and Goleta, CA sites and travel to support customers as needed
+ US Citizenship required
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ MS degree in Aerospace, Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
+ Understanding of mechanics including loads and stress calculations, stiffness, strength
+ Understanding of electricity and magnetism, including circuits, Ohms Law, power, heat generation/dissipation, inductance, magnetic permeability, insulation, capacitance, ESD & mitigation
+ Ability to provide technical communication and coordination with internal and external customers

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
