**Summary**
As a member of the Server Management team, the candidate will play a key role in designing and supporting the virtual server environment hosted on-premises as well as in the cloud. The Virtualization Systems Engineer works closely with Windows and Linux teams and is responsible for the management, architecture, configuration and administration of all virtual servers, backups and related software and security components. This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the team on issues related to the configuration and monitoring of mission-critical information systems maximizing service quality for the organization as measured through key indicators.
**What You'll Do**
+ Help design and develop virtualization systems architecture to meet demands of the business across multiple data centers.
+ Support the installation, configuration, and day to day management of the VMWare vSphere environment including patching and upgrades.
+ Research and resolve highly complex technical problems concerning virtualized hosts and guests.
+ Analyze and recommend improvements to existing VMWare environments to improve performance, usability, and customer experience across the enterprise
+ Work closely with infrastructure teams that are dependent on the virtual environment (Storage, Networking, Windows, Linux, Database) to automate common tasks, optimize performance, streamline processes, and troubleshoot issues.
+ Develop and maintain documentation and diagrams related to standards, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting.
**What It Takes To Succeed**
+ Experience with vSAN, HPE Synergy and vRealize suite of products (vROPs, vRA/vRO, LogInsight)
+ Ability to write simple to moderately complex scripts in PowerShell
+ Basic understanding of REST is preferred.
+ Experience with vRO workflow development in Javascript is desired but not required.
+ Experience with Kubernetes, preferably OpenShift is desired but not required.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
**Experience**
Our ideal candidate is a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).
**Education**
A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
**Hybrid Workplace**
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
