Machine Shop Technician

Job Summary:

The candidate(s) selected will be responsible for performing tasks assigned to them as a technician in a machine shop.
The tasks include, but are not limited to, supporting site wide requests as necessary (Echo/RF/Fab/Facilities/On-Site Contractors), repair/modify various machine tool subassemblies as needed, repair/fabricate/modify clean room hardware, remove broken bolts/repair threads, repair/manufacture/test forelines/exhaust lines, repair/buildout and test gas supply lines for machine tools, create/modify various fixtures needed for toolsets, maintain working stock inventory/orders as needed, and work with counterparts to align and produce large quantity jobs to meet timeline demands.

Key Challenges:

Able to diagnose tasks assigned to come up with best known way to complete the task.
Able to work in a high-volume manufacturing environment and collaborate with customers for efficient use of time and materials with minimal direction.
Able to work across multiple different toolsets performing tasks on different materials.

Cross-functional aspects:

Able to work in a cross-functional team as needed, including associates.

Job Qualifications:

AA, AS, AAS, in electronics or other mechanical discipline is preferred. Education along with experience or military training may satisfy formal education requirements.
Fabrication/machining experience (metal/plastic/etc.)
The desired candidate will be required to effectively communicate using written and verbal skills, stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours), and be physically able to perform required tasks which may include stooping, crawling in confined spaces, and lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds.
Experience working in a clean room environment and the ability to follow all proper cleanroom protocols.
Preferred to be 5S certified, but knowledge of the program is required.
Knowledge of 6 Sigma Lean Manufacturing preferred
Able to operate basic hand tools and measuring devices.
Ability to read drawings
The technician position is responsible for effectively executing tasks that are required to perform tasks in the machine shop utilizing the following toolsets:
Tig/mig/orbital welders
Facing tools
Drill press
Band saw
Table saw
Router
Various shears/notchers
Sheet metal brakes
Hardinge HLV and Enco lathes
Bridgeport mill
Manual/hydraulic press
Grinders/sanders/hand drills
Helium leak checker
Hand tooling repair kits (tapes/dies/helicoils)
