Coconino County Public Works is seeking a Mechanic/Welder Assistant.
The ideal candidate: has at least one year of experience in welding, fabrication, or vehicle/heavy equipment repair, with preferred technical education in welding. They should possess strong mechanical skills, knowledge of welding techniques, and proficiency in using tools and diagnostic equipment while being physically capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and working in various weather conditions. A valid Arizona driver’s license is required, alongside strong teamwork, time management, and a commitment to safety.
Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in welding/fabrication, vehicle or heavy equipment repair, OR any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: Technical education in welding through high school or a trade school, along with hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, or vehicle/heavy equipment repair. Familiarity with a variety of welding techniques, tools, and diagnostic equipment. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to workplace safety.
Additional Requirements: Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
