This is a contract position until June 30, 2025 with an opportunity to apply for renewal. If approved, contract may be extended.

This position IS eligible for benefits, PTO/sick time, ASRS, and Bilingual pay.

Position Description

The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Human Services Specialist. The Human Services Specialist administers and actively participates in a specialized programmatic area; Provides customer service; provides referrals and administers resources; assists clients with utility and/or rent assistance; Maintains program records and files. Prepares routine reports; Develops promotional materials to increase program and event awareness. Conducts public outreach; Performs related work as assigned; Analyzes clients' financial and eligibility information to determine initial or continuing eligibility for rental/utility assistance; Refers clients to other services, resources, or agencies as appropriate; Attends meetings, trainings, and workshops with other government agencies, local organizations regarding to program service areas; Process applications utilizing HSD Dynamics; and, performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Bilingual Spanish speaking required. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel creating spreadsheets and utilizing formulas as needed. Arizona Driver's License, Fingerprint clearance card, CPR/First Aid Certificate, and Central Registry required.

Physical Demands

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.

Working Conditions are in an office setting. Depending on assignment some travel may be required.
