**Patient Registration Specialist - Patient Registration**

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Registration Specialist to join our healthcare team. The Patient Registration Rep is responsible for accurately and efficiently registering patient for medical services obtaining necessary information and ensuring a positive patient experience. **Responsibilities**

+ Greet patients and visitors and provide excellent customer service.

+ Accurately and efficiently register patients for medical services including verifying patient information and insurance coverage.

+ Obtain necessary information such as medical history medications allergies and other related information from patients and ensure that all information is entered correctly into the electronic health record

+ Assist patient in filling out necessary paperwork

+ Collect copays and outstanding balances at the time of service and provide patients with receipts

+ Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the appropriate care.

**Qualifications**

+ Two (2) years experience in a hospital Patient Registration department Physician office setting health insurance company revenue cycle vendor and/or revenue cycle related role.

+ Applicable education and/or training can be used to balance a lack of experience.

+ Minimum 1 year of experience in customer service preferably in healthcare.

+ High School diploma GED or equivalent.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Three (3) years experience in a hospital Patient Registration department Physician office setting health insurance company revenue cycle vendor and/or revenue cycle related role preferred.

**Special Skills:**

+ Thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures.

+ Thorough knowledge of charity care programs as well as various government and non-government payment assistance programs preferred

+ Working knowledge of facility pricing structure and cost estimates.

+ Basic knowledge of ICD-9 (10) and CPT terminology.

+ Working knowledge of medical terminology.

+ Able to perform basic mathematics for payment calculation.

+ Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.

+ Intermediate to advanced computer skills.

+ Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.

**This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.**

**Pay Range**

$26.52 - $33.23 /hour
