Job Description
Essential Functions:
Provide technology support for Black Box customers.
Installs, adjusts and maintains technical systems and applications.
Helps with installation and service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, communication equipment and other various low voltage related systems such as Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
Transport a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at client site."
Perform work under supervision.
Education Requirements:
High School/GED
Experience Requirements:
0-2 years of experience in Telecommunications and/or IT field
Helper/entry level
Other Qualifications, Skills & Certifications:
Valid Driver’s license may be required
Accreditation from a Technical School -- Applicable Skill Trades Program is preferred
Competencies
Basic Computer Skills:
Knowledge of IP-based systems, structured cabling systems, telephone systems, unified messaging, system security devices, data network equipment, videoconferencing equipment, wireless LANs, and PCs
Able to read, write and interpret various correspondence, memos and instructions
Basic understanding of telecommunications color codes, pin-outs, and infrastructure installation standards
Understand basic data center protocols/work rules
Ability to read and interpret floor plans, wiring diagrams, and other installation documentation
Ability to carry up to 30 lbs. and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
